Wednesday already???

We're half-way through the week already, can you believe it?! Time's whizzing!

It’s been lovely weather today, the sun has returned, yay! Another two day hike set off this morning so it’s fantastic for them that it wasn't too hot and the clouds have lifted so they will see the beautiful views as enjoyed by the first group earlier in the week.

Last night’s Silent Disco in Stanzach village was very popular. It was hosted in Bergland House (known now as Burgerland throughout the village but, shhhh, don’t tell them) :-) and participants from Groeninghe House and Verriest House took a walk up the hill to Bergland for a couple of hours of dancing, singing & looking cool in wireless headphones. The DJ’s who provided the music for one of the two channels for the headphones were fantastic, well done guys! Also big thanks to Lewis for bringing the Silent Disco kit out to Austria and organising these discos in each village, they are a real hit.

Some groups sampled white water rafting today, with different options according to age. Everyone’s feedback has been so positive about this and you’ll have seen other great comments on previous days’ blog posts. I think everyone would happily have another go at this if time/money permitted! This activity is a popular choice and really exciting so we imagine you’re going to hear plenty of good stories about their experiences.

Today's community project was in two groups at different locations. After a couple of introductory/icebreaker games, the first project had our young people crossing a freshwater stream and walking along a water-logged path which had over-the boot water in places. They were cutting down invasive willow saplings growing on the flood plains which were stopping the rare dwarf bullrushes from growing. The other project had young people cutting out non-native reeds from another flood plain leaving the smaller reeds. We were given special thanks for the significant difference this has made. It will give the Tyroler Lech Naturpark a great start to one of their many conservation/ecological projects.

The Zugspitze (highest cable car in Germany) was chosen by lots of people as an activity - and what amazing views they saw. If your young people bring great photo's home please remind them to contact us as we want copies for our Austria presentation at the GLSE AGM.

So fear not, everyone may be pushing their energy levels but an amazing time is being had - we can always sleep on the journey home!

Sarah

  14. Hello Jack and Tom! The trip looks absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to hear more about it when you get home - especially the cable car ride which sounds awesome!! Your mum can only access an Arabic computer so she cannot post you any messages. But she said to say she misses you both! She is having a great time on holiday too. Apparently, you travel everywhere by golf buggy (even to buy an ice cream!). Molly is ecstatic about this as you can imagine! Take care and have lots of fun!! PS - Jack ... you won't believe what is going on in EastEnders!!! Jo Dharma x

It is Graham's birthday today so we may pop out for a drink or two tonight.
